The first week of individual meetings for Ms. Kate Casas in Beijing was busy but productive. She visited the Ministry of Education, Beijing Education Commission, Beijing Normal University, FCD International School, Dandelion Middle School and Teach for China, and met with various government officials, experts, teachers and students, from which she gained a basic understanding of the current conditions of China’s education, as well as different types of schools or education organizations in Beijing.
At Beijing Normal University, four Zhi-Xing Fellows, Kate Casas, Sandra Licon, Liza Rodrigues and Amy Shaw, were warmly received by Vice President, Mr. ZHOU Zuoyu, along with several prominent professors. They had a very informative meeting and an active discussion on various topics.
At Dandelion Middle School, three Zhi-Xing Fellows, Kate Casas, Sandra Licon and Liza Rodrigues, got to know about the important work that the school is doing for migrant workers’ children and were deeply moved by the dedication and selflessness of teachers and volunteers at the school.
