Zhi-Xing Eisenhower Fellow Dr. Christopher Laing—Beijing

On 29th October, 2015, Dr. Christopher Laing paid a visit to an entrepreneurial community located in an unusual place - the comfortable, cozy Cafe 1898. Dr. Laing had a productive meeting with the Secretary General of the Peking University Alumni Venture Association, Li Hong, and the CEO of the Cafe, Zhuang Fengtuo. This Cafe is something new - it's a place for innovators, entrepreneurs, and investors to exchange their ideas, and where promising projects come to life.

Cafe 1898 is located in a new area of Z-Park near Peking University, and was founded by more than 200 alumni of the university. This is the first cafe created in China to help Peking University alumni, and their networks, to engage in entrepreneurial activities. Over a friendly cup of coffee, Dr. Laing and Secretary General Li discussed the model of the cafe, and explored opportunities to collaborate.
